The Translation Cauldron is here!
FULL BLOG IN ENGLISH HERE: http://rockstartranslations.com/blog/
Some of you may already know me but, in case you were wondering, let me introduce myself:
My name is Valentina, I am 26, and I live in Rome, but I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Reggio Calabria, southern Italy. Professionally speaking, I am an English to Italian Translator, Localiser and Subtitler. In 2013, I founded my translation business, which I decided to call Rockstar Translations.
In my everyday life, I am a slightly neurotic girl, a real control freak, and I am hopelessly addicted to TV-series, Harry Potter, Doctor Who (yes, you will find a lot of geeky references in my posts, so don’t say I did not warn you!) and everything related to the UK and Ireland.
Why “The Translation Cauldron”?
When I think about cauldrons, I imagine witches and wizards brewing magical potions using the most incredible and strangest ingredients. We are all well aware that the idea of specialisation is key in the translation business. My goal for this blog is to explore this world and its multifaceted nature as much as possible. In this viewpoint, the Translation Cauldron becomes a metaphoric kettle, a container of different thoughts, opinions and facts about translation and languages, and I am the translator/witch behind it stirring its magical contents.
Why in English?
The most obvious choice for a rookie blogger like me would be writing in my first language, i.e. Italian. On the one hand, the pros would be countless for many reasons in terms of grammar, vocabulary, and so on and so forth. On the other hand, as I said before, I want The Translation Cauldron to be an adventure, a challenge, a way to improve myself both personally and particularly professionally. We learn by doing, but most of all, we learn by making mistakes.
Thank you and rock on!
